There is something incredibly special about an intimate wedding.

When you choose to celebrate with just your closest family and friends, the day naturally becomes less about the schedule and more about the people. Every conversation feels meaningful, every hug lasts a little longer, and every person in the room has played an important part in your story.

Luke and Miranda’s wedding was the perfect reminder that you don’t need hundreds of guests to create an unforgettable celebration.

Although this wedding was photographed before I relocated to New South Wales, it beautifully reflects the relaxed, heartfelt experience I now bring to couples getting married throughout Wollongong, the Illawarra, Kiama, Shellharbour and the South Coast.

A Wedding Shared With The People Who Matter Most

Luke and Miranda chose to celebrate with around thirty of the people they love most.

It created such an incredibly warm atmosphere.

Every guest knew the couple well. There were no strangers filling seats—just the people who had supported them throughout their lives and were genuinely excited to witness the beginning of their next chapter.

One of my favourite parts of the day was seeing the thoughtful gifts they had prepared for one another and for the people closest to them. Every detail had purpose. Every decision reflected who they were as a couple.

It never felt rushed.

It simply felt intentional.

More Time, Less Pressure

One of the biggest advantages of planning an intimate wedding is having the freedom to actually spend time with your guests.

Instead of racing from table to table trying to say hello to everyone, Luke and Miranda were able to enjoy relaxed conversations, soak in every moment and be completely present throughout the day.

As a Wollongong wedding photographer, I love weddings like this because they naturally create space for genuine moments.

The laughter between lifelong friends.

Parents quietly taking everything in.

The happy tears during the ceremony.

The hugs that happen when nobody realises a camera is nearby.

As Luke and Miranda exchanged their vows, it was impossible not to notice the emotion throughout the crowd.

Everywhere I looked there were smiles, tears and proud family members watching two people they loved promise forever to one another.

One of the greatest gifts of wedding photography is capturing the moments happening beyond the couple.

As the bride and groom, you’re completely immersed in one of the biggest moments of your lives.

You don’t always see your mum wiping away tears.

Your grandparents smiling at each other.

Or your best friend trying not to cry.

Those moments deserve to be remembered too.

One of the biggest benefits of a smaller wedding is the flexibility it gives you.

Because Luke and Miranda had planned such a relaxed timeline, we were able to include something truly unforgettable a helicopter flight.

Not because it was extravagant.

But because it reflected them.

It gave them time to step away from the celebrations, soak in the excitement of the day and create memories together that they’ll never forget.

Sometimes the best wedding timelines aren’t the busiest ones.
